Connect Wave accounting data to Salesforce Agentforce
Wave is the free-to-use cloud accounting platform that small service businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs use to manage invoicing, payment collection, expense tracking, and financial reporting. Salesforce holds the commercial record of the customers those invoices are issued to. When a customer contacts their account contact about a payment query or an invoice dispute, the accurate context is in Wave. When a service engagement is agreed and closed in Salesforce, the invoice setup in Wave should follow as an automated step rather than a manual one. When Emerge Digital connects Wave to Agentforce, invoice and payment context from Wave is available to agents during customer conversations — and Salesforce commercial milestones coordinate with Wave to keep the billing workflow aligned with the commercial record.
What this unlocks
- Invoice and payment status during customer conversations: when a customer contacts their account contact about an outstanding invoice or a payment query, an agent can read the Wave invoice record — the amount, the issue date, the payment status, and whether the invoice has been viewed — and respond with specifics rather than asking the customer to forward the invoice.
- Closed Won creates the Wave customer and invoice: when a Salesforce opportunity closes for a new service engagement, an agent can create the Wave customer record and generate the first invoice from the agreed terms, notifying the accounts contact — so billing starts from the commercial event rather than a separate manual step.
- Invoice viewed and overdue signals for follow-up: Wave tracks whether a customer has opened and viewed an emailed invoice — an agent can surface this context in account follow-up tasks, noting whether a customer has seen the invoice and how many days past due it is, giving the account team actionable context for the follow-up call.
- Expense context for project and billing conversations: Wave tracks business expenses by category — an agent can read the project-relevant expenses for a client engagement during a billing conversation, providing the actual cost-to-serve context without requiring the account team to open the Wave dashboard separately.
In the customer journey
Account contact confirms payment status on the call
A customer calls asking whether their payment of last week has been received and applied. The agent reads the Wave record — the payment was received five days ago via credit card, applied to invoice #0042, and a receipt was emailed to the customer's billing address. The account contact confirms the payment and offers to resend the receipt. The query is resolved without routing to the finance team.
Closed Won creates the first invoice in Wave
A Salesforce opportunity closes for a one-time website development project. The agent creates the Wave customer record with the billing details from Salesforce, generates the deposit invoice for 50% of the project amount, and sends the invoice to the client's billing contact. The client receives the invoice before the project kick-off conversation.
Overdue invoice flagged with viewed status for follow-up
A Wave invoice is 12 days past due. The agent checks the invoice record — the invoice was opened and viewed three days ago but no payment has been initiated. The agent creates a Salesforce task for the account contact flagging the overdue invoice with the viewed status, so the follow-up call begins with the knowledge that the customer has seen the invoice rather than assuming they missed it.
Why not Wave's native integrations?
Wave integrates with payment processors and some accounting tools for basic financial workflows. Wave does not have a native Salesforce integration. Third-party connectors for Wave typically handle basic data export rather than real-time retrieval. What they do not provide is Wave invoice and payment data queryable by a Salesforce Agentforce agent in real time during a customer conversation: an agent cannot ask a Wave export for the current payment status on a specific invoice during a customer call, create a Wave customer and invoice automatically when a Salesforce deal closes, or surface a customer's invoice-viewed status in a Salesforce follow-up task. Emerge Digital builds the retrieval and action layer that makes Wave's billing data available to agents in commercial conversations.
Wave's Agentforce integration is most active in the billing and account management stages for small service businesses that use Wave for invoicing alongside Salesforce for client management. It is relevant for businesses that have grown to using Salesforce for commercial tracking but continue to use Wave for billing because of its low cost and simplicity.
How Emerge integrates Wave
Emerge Digital connects Wave to Salesforce Agentforce as a consulting engagement. We map which Wave data types agents need to read — invoices, payment records, and expense categories — configure the Salesforce deal-close triggers that create Wave customer records and first invoices, define the overdue invoice and viewed-status alerting logic, and set the access boundaries around which agents can read which customer financial data. The integration is designed around your Wave account configuration and your Salesforce customer model.

FAQ
Can the agent send payment reminders or create Wave invoices autonomously?
The agent can create invoices and send them to the accounts contact for review as part of a deal-close workflow. Sending payment reminders directly to customers requires an explicit authorisation step — the account contact reviews and approves the reminder before dispatch, rather than the agent sending autonomously.
We have outgrown Wave and are considering migrating to QuickBooks Online or FreshBooks — does this affect the integration?
Emerge can design the integration around your current Wave configuration, and the same commercial use cases — deal-close billing setup, invoice context in client conversations, overdue alerting — apply to QuickBooks Online and FreshBooks if you migrate. The transition is a platform swap within the same integration design.
Wave is free — does the integration cost change that calculation?
The Wave platform itself is free to use. The integration engagement is Emerge Digital's consulting fee for designing, building, and deploying the Agentforce connection layer. There are no ongoing Wave platform costs from the integration — Wave's free tier covers the API access the integration uses.
How long does a Wave + Agentforce integration take?
A focused engagement typically runs three to four weeks: configuring deal-close customer and invoice creation, building invoice status retrieval for client conversations, defining overdue and viewed-status alerting, and testing billing query, deal-close setup, and invoice follow-up scenarios.
