Connect Microsoft OneDrive document storage to Salesforce Agentforce

Microsoft OneDrive is the personal and shared document storage platform within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem that teams use to store, sync, and share files — proposals, contracts, working documents, and customer materials. SharePoint builds on the same infrastructure at the organisational level, while OneDrive handles the personal and team-level file management layer. Salesforce holds the commercial and service record of the customer relationships those files support. When a sales rep needs to retrieve the latest version of a proposal before a call, or a service agent needs to find a customer contract during a support interaction, those files are often in OneDrive. When Emerge Digital connects OneDrive to Agentforce, document retrieval is available during CRM conversations — and Salesforce commercial milestones can trigger the OneDrive folder creation and sharing that organises each new customer relationship.

What this unlocks

  • File retrieval during CRM conversations: when a rep needs the latest proposal or a service agent needs a specific customer document during a conversation, an agent can search OneDrive for the relevant file and retrieve it — so the rep does not need to interrupt the conversation to find and forward the document manually.
  • Closed Won creates the customer OneDrive folder: when a Salesforce opportunity closes, an agent can create a shared OneDrive folder for the new customer — with the appropriate subfolder structure, pre-populated with the signed contract and onboarding materials, and shared with the delivery team — so the file workspace is ready when the engagement kicks off.
  • Personal and shared file context for pre-call briefings: proposals, meeting notes, and reference materials stored in OneDrive or shared with specific customers can be read by an agent when preparing for a meeting — so the briefing draws on the specific files that are relevant to the account and conversation.
  • Document link sharing as part of account management: when an account agent needs to share a specific file with a customer, an agent can retrieve the OneDrive document, generate a shareable link with the appropriate access settings, and include it in the outbound communication — without the rep having to open OneDrive separately.

In the customer journey

Rep retrieves the proposal before the discovery call

A rep is about to join a discovery call with a prospect. They ask the agent for the proposal shared last week. The agent searches OneDrive for the document using the prospect's account name and the approximate date — finds the latest version, confirms it is the one shared — and surfaces the download link to the rep. The rep enters the call with the correct document open rather than searching their email for the shared link.

Closed Won creates the client OneDrive workspace

A Salesforce opportunity closes for a professional services engagement. The agent creates a OneDrive folder for the client — with subfolders for contracts, deliverables, meeting notes, and resources — uploads the signed statement of work, shares the folder with the delivery team and the client's project lead, and links the folder URL to the Salesforce account. The client workspace is ready before the kick-off invitation is sent.

Service agent finds the contract clause during a support call

A customer raises a question about their service level commitments during a support call. The service agent asks the Agentforce agent to find the customer's service agreement. The agent searches OneDrive using the account name and finds the contract — retrieves the relevant SLA section — and surfaces the specific commitment language. The support agent answers from the actual contract rather than from memory.

Why not the native OneDrive–Salesforce integration?

Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint have a Salesforce integration that links files to Salesforce records and allows browsing within the Salesforce interface. This is useful for file linking. What it does not provide is OneDrive file content queryable by an Agentforce agent in real time during a CRM conversation: an agent cannot ask the OneDrive–Salesforce integration to retrieve a specific file by searching for its content, surface a contract clause during a support call, or create a OneDrive folder with the correct structure and sharing permissions when a Salesforce opportunity closes. Emerge Digital builds the retrieval and action layer that makes OneDrive file management genuinely available to agents at conversation time.

OneDrive's Agentforce integration is most valuable in the delivery and service stages — where customer-specific files hold the documents relevant to an active engagement, and where being able to retrieve a file during a conversation means the difference between resolving an interaction immediately and creating a follow-up task. It is part of the broader Microsoft 365 integration for organisations on the Microsoft stack.

How Emerge integrates OneDrive

Emerge Digital connects Microsoft OneDrive to Salesforce Agentforce as part of a Microsoft 365 integration engagement. We map which OneDrive folder structures and file types are relevant to customer-facing conversations, configure the Salesforce deal-close triggers that create OneDrive folders and set sharing permissions, define the file search and retrieval logic, and set the governance boundaries that ensure agents access only authorised customer files. The integration is designed around your Microsoft 365 tenant configuration and document governance model.

How we structure an engagement

FAQ

What is the difference between the OneDrive and SharePoint integrations?

OneDrive holds personal and team-level files — a rep's own working documents and team-shared files that are not yet part of a formal site. SharePoint is the organisational document management layer — site-based, structured, and governed. Both are part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Emerge designs the integration around where your customer documents actually live — which is often a mix of both.

We use Google Drive rather than OneDrive — can you connect that instead?

Yes. Emerge has an equivalent integration for Google Drive. The file retrieval and folder creation use case is the same; the platform is different. Emerge builds to the document storage platform your team uses — OneDrive for Microsoft 365 organisations, Google Drive for Google Workspace organisations.

Can the agent modify OneDrive files or change sharing permissions?

Agents can retrieve and share files, and can create new folders with appropriate sharing settings as part of a deal-close workflow. Modifying existing file content or changing sharing permissions on files that already exist requires an explicit approval step to avoid accidental exposure of sensitive documents.

How long does a OneDrive + Agentforce integration take?

OneDrive is typically included as part of a broader Microsoft 365 + Agentforce engagement rather than as a standalone integration. A focused engagement covering OneDrive file retrieval, deal-close folder creation, and pre-call briefing typically runs three to five weeks once the Microsoft 365 connectivity is in place.
