Reach every system Agentforce needs through governed MuleSoft APIs

Most of what an agent needs to do useful work — order status in an ERP, a balance in a core banking platform, a record in a government registry — lives outside Salesforce. MuleSoft, Salesforce's own integration platform, is how that estate becomes reachable: capabilities exposed as governed, reusable APIs on Anypoint rather than a tangle of point-to-point links. Emerge Digital designs and builds those APIs, then wires Agentforce actions to call them, so an agent reaches a back-office system through an interface your architects control.

All integrations

What this unlocks

  • Agentforce actions call MuleSoft-managed APIs, so an agent reaches an ERP, a billing engine, or a legacy database through the same governed interface your applications use.
  • API-led design means each capability is built once and reused — the API that serves your mobile app can serve your agents, instead of every consumer wiring its own path.
  • Policies applied at the API layer — authentication, rate limits, data filtering — constrain what an agent can call and how often, independent of how any prompt is worded.
  • Every agent call shows up in the API layer's traffic, so your integration team can see exactly what agents invoked, when, and against which system.

In the customer journey

Order status from the ERP

A customer asks a service agent where their order is, and the agent calls a MuleSoft API that fronts the ERP — returning the live status without the agent ever touching the back-office system directly.

Core systems behind a controlled interface

A banking agent confirms an account's standing by calling an API that exposes only the fields approved for agent access, keeping the core platform itself out of reach.

New agent skills from existing APIs

When the business wants an agent to handle a new task, the team checks the API catalog first — if the capability is already exposed, the new agent action simply reuses it.

MuleSoft is plumbing rather than a stage of the journey — it is what lets agents act at every stage. In Engage and Convert it carries the lookups and transactions an agent performs mid-conversation; in Optimize, the API layer's view of what agents actually call shows where to invest next. For Gulf enterprises in Government and BFSI, where core systems sit behind strict controls, a governed API layer is often the only acceptable route between an agent and those systems.

How Emerge integrates MuleSoft

Emerge Digital delivers this as an integration architecture engagement, not an installation. We work out which back-office capabilities your agents genuinely need, design the API topology with your team, and build or extend the APIs — then create the Agentforce actions that call them and the policies that constrain them. Because MuleSoft is a Salesforce product, the two sit naturally together, but nothing about your estate comes pre-wired: the design work is where the value is.

How we structure an engagement

FAQ

MuleSoft is owned by Salesforce — doesn't Agentforce already connect to it?

The platforms are built to work together, but that only helps once APIs exist for your systems. Deciding which capabilities to expose, building the APIs, and defining the agent actions that call them — that work is the engagement.

Do we need MuleSoft at all to give Agentforce access to other systems?

Not always. A single, simple system can be integrated directly. MuleSoft earns its place when several systems and several consumers — agents, apps, portals — need the same access, and you want one governed interface per capability instead of a web of one-off links.

Is this something we install, or a project?

A project. Emerge scopes the APIs, builds them alongside your integration team, and configures what each agent may call. There is no package to install, and agent access is bounded by the API policies we set — not by anything a user types into a prompt.

Ground your agents in MuleSoft.

Tell us what your agents need to read and write in MuleSoft, and we'll design the integration and the governance around it.
