Connect Box document management to Salesforce Agentforce
Box is the enterprise content management platform that organisations use to store, share, and collaborate on contracts, proposals, presentations, and operational documents. Salesforce holds the structured commercial record of the customer relationships those documents support. A contract lives in Box; the opportunity it was signed against lives in Salesforce. A delivery proposal is in Box; the account it was sent to is in Salesforce. When a service agent needs to reference a contract clause during a call, or an account rep needs to retrieve the latest proposal version before a meeting, the document they need is in Box. When Emerge Digital connects Box to Agentforce, agents can retrieve relevant documents from Box during CRM conversations — and Salesforce commercial milestones can trigger the Box folder creation and access management that organises the customer relationship.
What this unlocks
- Document retrieval during agent conversations: when a customer raises a question about a specific contract clause, proposal section, or delivery specification, an agent can search Box for the relevant document, retrieve the content, and surface it in the conversation — so the answer comes from the actual document rather than a recollection.
- Closed Won creates the Box project structure: when a Salesforce opportunity closes, an agent can create a Box folder for the new customer — structured with the correct subfolder template, pre-populated with the signed contract and onboarding documents, and shared with the delivery team — so the document infrastructure is ready when the win is announced.
- Box content as context for agent briefings: proposals, case studies, and reference materials stored in Box can be read by an agent when preparing a rep for a meeting — so the briefing draws on the specific documents that are relevant to the account rather than only the structured fields in Salesforce.
- Contract expiry and renewal signals: Box allows file-level metadata and expiry dates on contracts — an agent can read upcoming contract expiry dates in Box, match them to Salesforce accounts, and create renewal opportunity records before agreements lapse.
In the customer journey
Contract clause answered from the Box document
A customer contacts support asking about a specific exclusion in their service agreement. The agent searches Box for the customer's signed contract using the account name and contract type, retrieves the relevant clause, and surfaces the exact wording in the service conversation. The customer gets an answer grounded in the actual contract rather than a paraphrase, and the case is resolved without escalating to legal.
Closed Won creates the customer Box folder
A Salesforce opportunity closes for an 18-month enterprise engagement. The agent creates a Box folder for the customer — with subfolders for contracts, proposals, meeting notes, and deliverables — uploads the signed agreement, shares the folder with the delivery team and the customer's nominated contact, and links the Box folder to the Salesforce account. The document infrastructure is in place before the kick-off meeting invitation goes out.
Pre-meeting brief draws on Box materials
A rep is preparing for a strategic review with a long-standing customer. The agent reads the Box folder for the account — the original engagement proposal, the last three quarterly review decks, and the most recent delivery specification — and produces a brief that draws on what has been discussed and committed to across those documents, not only what is in the Salesforce opportunity record.
Why not the native Box–Salesforce integration?
Box has a Salesforce integration that links Box folders to Salesforce records and surfaces Box files in the Salesforce UI. This is a useful starting point for file linking and browsing within Salesforce. What it does not provide is Box document content queryable by an Agentforce agent in real time during a customer conversation: an agent cannot ask the Box–Salesforce integration to retrieve a specific contract clause, read a proposal's pricing section during an account call, or search Box for documents related to a specific topic and surface the relevant content. Emerge Digital builds the retrieval layer that makes Box document content genuinely available to agents at conversation time.
Box holds the documentary record of the customer relationship — proposals, contracts, delivery specifications, and meeting materials — that complements the structured data in Salesforce. Grounding agents in Box content means conversations are anchored in what was actually written, agreed, and committed to rather than the summary fields in CRM, which is particularly valuable in the delivery, renewal, and dispute resolution stages.
How Emerge integrates Box
Emerge Digital connects Box to Salesforce Agentforce as a consulting engagement. We map which Box folder structures and document types agents need to read, configure the Salesforce deal-close triggers that create Box folders and set access permissions, define the contract metadata that surfaces renewal signals, and set the retrieval and access boundaries that govern which agents can access which documents. The integration is designed around your Box folder architecture and your organisation's document governance model.

FAQ
Can the agent create or edit documents in Box?
By default, agents read and retrieve documents; they do not author or edit content in Box on behalf of a user. Agents can create folder structures and upload pre-prepared documents when a deal closes, but generating or modifying document content stays with the people who own those documents.
We use SharePoint instead of Box — can you connect that instead?
Yes. SharePoint is part of the Microsoft 365 integration Emerge builds for organisations on the Microsoft stack. The use case is the same — enterprise document retrieval and project folder creation from Salesforce deal events — and the approach is the same; the platform differs.
How does this work with Box AI?
Box has introduced its own AI features for document summarisation and question-answering within the Box platform. Emerge Digital's integration focuses on making Box document content available to Salesforce Agentforce agents during CRM-based conversations — the two are complementary. The content lives in Box and is accessed by agents in Salesforce conversations.
How long does a Box + Agentforce integration take?
A focused engagement typically runs three to six weeks: mapping the Box folder structure and document types in scope, configuring deal-close folder creation and access permissions, building document retrieval for agent conversations, and testing contract query, project setup, and briefing workflows. Organisations with complex Box governance models or strict content classification requirements add time.
