Connect ADP workforce data to Salesforce Agentforce

ADP is the workforce management and payroll platform that organisations use to manage employee records, compensation, onboarding, and termination processes. Salesforce holds the commercial record of the customer relationships those employees support. When a new hire is added in ADP for a customer-facing role, Salesforce should reflect that with the correct account access and territory assignment from day one. When an employee departure is processed in ADP, the Salesforce record should be updated and the accounts should be reassigned before the departure date. When an enterprise customer manages their workforce through ADP and wants Salesforce context about workforce-related decisions, the integration closes the gap between the HR system and the CRM. When Emerge Digital connects ADP to Agentforce, employee lifecycle events drive CRM actions automatically rather than through a chain of manual notifications.

What this unlocks

  • New hire events trigger Salesforce provisioning: when a new employee is created in ADP for a sales, service, or account role, an agent can create the Salesforce user, assign the profile and territory, and route the CRM onboarding task — so new starters have a working Salesforce account before they begin.
  • Employee departure triggers account reassignment: when a departure is processed in ADP, an agent can identify the employee's Salesforce accounts, opportunities, and service cases, reassign them according to the succession plan, and remove Salesforce access — so the account handoff and access removal happen together.
  • Workforce context for HR and operations clients: for organisations that use Salesforce to manage HR service relationships or workforce analytics clients, ADP's headcount and role data can be surfaced by an agent during account conversations — so the rep is briefed on the workforce scale and structure of the account they are engaging with.
  • Compensation and role change events drive CRM territory updates: when an ADP record reflects a role change or promotion, an agent can update the Salesforce user's profile and territory assignment — so CRM access evolves with the employee's responsibilities without a manual admin step.

In the customer journey

New sales hire in ADP — Salesforce ready from day one

A new enterprise account executive is added to ADP as part of the IT onboarding. The agent reads the ADP record, identifies the role and the assigned sales territory, creates the Salesforce user with the correct profile, assigns the territory accounts, and notifies Sales Ops. The new rep arrives with Salesforce access, the right accounts, and no dependency on an admin ticket.

Employee departure triggers account reassignment and access removal

An ADP record is updated to reflect a sales rep's departure effective Friday. The agent reads the departure record, identifies the rep's 23 Salesforce accounts, open opportunities, and two active service cases, reassigns each according to the succession plan the sales manager provided, removes the Salesforce user's access, and notifies the account management team. The transition is complete before the departure date.

HR services client briefed on their workforce context

A rep from a workforce analytics vendor is preparing for a client renewal call. The client manages several thousand employees through ADP. The agent reads the ADP workforce summary for the client account — total headcount, the role categories, and recent growth — and adds it to the pre-call brief. The rep enters the renewal conversation with the workforce context that is central to the product's value proposition.

Why not ADP's native Salesforce integration?

ADP has marketplace connectors and some workflow integrations for Salesforce. What they do not provide is ADP employee lifecycle events queryable by an Agentforce agent in real time: an agent cannot ask ADP's connector for the current status of a specific new hire's provisioning, detect an ADP departure record and automatically reassign the employee's Salesforce accounts, or read ADP workforce data during a client conversation about that client's workforce. Emerge Digital builds the retrieval and action layer that makes ADP lifecycle events genuinely drive CRM actions rather than requiring a manual handoff.

ADP's Agentforce integration is active across the full employment lifecycle — onboarding, role changes, and departures — each of which creates a CRM action that should happen automatically. For vendors serving HR and workforce management clients, ADP data is also relevant throughout the commercial relationship as the workforce context that frames the product's value.

How Emerge integrates ADP

Emerge Digital connects ADP to Salesforce Agentforce as a consulting engagement. We map which ADP employee lifecycle events agents need to respond to — new hires, departures, role changes, and compensation updates — configure the Salesforce provisioning and deprovisioning actions for each event, define the account reassignment logic for departures, and set the governance boundaries around which agents can read workforce data for which accounts. The integration is designed around your ADP configuration and your organisation's HR governance model.

How we structure an engagement

FAQ

Does this work with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Run, or only specific ADP products?

Scope depends on which ADP product your organisation uses. ADP Workforce Now is the most common enterprise platform for organisations with complex HR needs; ADP Run is more common for small and mid-size businesses. Both expose workforce data via API, though the data models and event structures differ. Emerge designs the integration around your specific ADP platform.

How is this different from the BambooHR or Workday + Agentforce integration?

The use case is the same — HR lifecycle events driving Salesforce provisioning and deprovisioning. ADP is the platform of choice for organisations that want a combined payroll and HR management system; BambooHR is more common in mid-market; Workday in large enterprise. Emerge builds to the HR platform your organisation runs.

Can the agent make changes in ADP — for example, updating a payroll record?

No. Payroll and HR record updates stay with the designated HR administrators and payroll team. Agents read ADP data and trigger Salesforce actions in response to ADP events; they do not write to payroll records, compensation data, or employee personal information.

How long does an ADP + Agentforce integration take?

A focused engagement typically runs four to eight weeks: mapping which ADP event types are in scope, configuring Salesforce provisioning and deprovisioning logic, defining account reassignment workflows for departures, and testing new hire, role change, and departure scenarios. Organisations with complex Salesforce territory hierarchies or multi-system HR stacks add time.
